# How can I pause a specific student's subscription?

You cannot pause a specific student's subscription directly in the system.

Instead, you can do one of the 2:

1. **When you know the period of pause**

You can edit the student subscription and change the "Validity End Date". Other things remain the same.

This can be done when you know the period of pausing.

2. **When you do not know the period of pause**

If you think that the period for the student to resume classes is long or is unknown, then follow the steps here:

a. [Edit the student subscription](https://practicenow.crisp.help/en/article/video-edit-students-subscription-1t82rsb/) and change the validity date to the last date of the student check-in.
While editing, note the no of classes left and the no of days left in the "Note" column.

b. When the student resumes, [create a manual subscription](https://practicenow.crisp.help/en/article/manual-subscriptions-1pb411r/) with the no of classes left and the no of days left with the amount as "0"
