How to share Zoom Recordings [Incl Class level Video Settings]
Video on How to share Zoom Recordings through PracticeNow
2 Ways to share Zoom Recordings
- Directly from Zoom
- Purchase/ Already purchased Zoom Cloud Storage [~ USD 40/month for 100 GB]
- Want to crop your recorded videos before sharing
- Google Drive
- Want tight access control to your videos - that is to ensure that only students logged into PracticeNow with the necessary subscription should access the video.
- Encrypted Videos - just like how Netflix does it.
How does Google Drive Storage work for Zoom Recordings?
PracticeNow automatically transfers your recordings from Zoom to your Google Drive storage.
Then your videos are served from Google Drive instead of Zoom and shown in PracticeNow.
Advantages of Storing in GDrive:
- Pricing
- Higher Storage Space
How to go about Video Recordings in PracticeNow?
Go to: Classes -> Settings -> Zoom Cloud Recordings
Here You can select if you would want to use Zoom Cloud Storage or GDrive.
Class Level Setting
- Do you want to have this session’s recording to be stored?
If yes, click on “Auto-scan for the zoom recording at the end of the class”
If you do not click this, even though you would have recorded this session, the system would not automatically store/process the recordings.
When this is checked, only then you will be able to see the "Auto-Publish" checkbox.
- Do you want the system to automatically start “Recording” the session?
If yes, click on “Automatically turn on recording when the class starts”
If you do not select this, please remember to ask your teacher to Record the session. The recorded session would still be stored automatically by PracticeNow.
- Auto-publish your recording?
This will mean that as soon as the recording is processed in Zoom, it will be avialable for the student to watch without any manual intervention.
If this is not checked, the video will be available for the admin only and not for students. And hence the "Auto-revoke" field will not be shown. But you can manually
"Publish" these videos
- Auto-revoke Video Access after [in days]
This means that your videos would automatically be “Unpublished” after the no of days mentioned here.
If you do not mention the no of days here, you would have to manually “Unpublish” the recordings.
Viewing Zoom Recordings
For Admin
- After each class is done, Zoom (and Google Drive, if that's the chosen option) needs to process the recording
- As soon as the processing is done, you'll see your recordings here: Online classes -> Videos
- You can then choose to Publish/Unpublish your recordings or edit the subscription plan for each video.
Note
For Students
Your students will see the Zoom recordings in the "Class Recordings" or "Video Courses" tab
All Zoom Recordings are set to the "Eligible group classes" accessibility option by default.
Only those students who have an “Eligible group class plan” - will be able to watch the video.
Eg:
The Student, Kyla has purchased a Group Class Plan for a period of 1 month - 1st Jun to 30th Jun.
Kyla would be able to “Watch” all the published videos of her classes that happened from 1st Jun to 30th Jun.
If some of the videos of 16th Jun and 17th Jun are still “Published”. Even after Kyla’s subscription expires, she would be able to watch them.
However she would not have access to recorded videos of the classes that happened before 1st Jun and would happen from 1st Jul.
